Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 45 minutes
Course Side Dish
Cuisine American
Servings 10 people

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ yellow onion, medium, chopped
  • 1 can pork n' beans, DO NOT DRAIN OR RINSE! 🤣
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp mustard seed
  • cayenne pepper, optional, to your tolerance
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large pan, brown beef with onion. Season to taste with salt and pepper, ok henny?
  • Drain grease from pan and transfer beef/onion mixture to a medium pot over medium-low heat.
  • Add remaining ingredients and cook for about 30 minutes, stirring often.
  • You can also mix everything in a small casserole dish and bake at 350°F, covered, for same amount of time...but I don't like to turn on the oven unless I have to, you feel me?
  • Taste for seasoning. This is where I would add the cayenne. You can even add more brown sugar if you really like it sweet!
  • Enjoy next to OR ON my BBQ PULLED CHICKEN SANDWICH!!!
  • Then clear the room cause duh.

Notes

Set up your 'mise en place.' This means do what the recipe tells you to do to the individual ingredients, measure them out, and then place them in separate little bowls/dishes/what-have-you. When it's time to build the recipe, you have everything measured and ready to go. It makes the entire process so much easier and more enjoyable!
OMG DID YOU MAKE THIS?!?
